Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is readying the release of its first devices that would sport LTE (Long Term Evolution) connectivity while running under Google's Android operating system, and some more info on one possible such device, the HTC Thunderbolt, emerged.

The handset, previously spotted at large as the Incredible HD, should be announced officially this week during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Recently, the mobile phone has emerged in Verizon's systems, along with another possible LTE device for Big Red, the Samsung SCH-i520.

The ADR6400 model number made an appearance in Verizon's internals, and, based on the fact that the original HTC Incredible had model number ADR6300, it was suggested that this might be none other than the HTC Thunderbolt.

As for the Samsung SCH-i520, rumor has it that it would arrive with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo on board, and with a front-facing camera, along with the whole pack of features present on a smartphone.

Nothing is official on either of them, but what appears to be the list of hardware specifications for the upcoming HTC Thunderbolt reportedly leaked into the wild.

According to the list, which surfaced over at German blog HTCInside, the upcoming mobile phone should land on shelves with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon application processor inside, along with a 4.3-inch screen.

Moreover, it would pack an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash, complemented by a 5 megapixel front-facing camera, and Google's Android 2.3 OS on board. The handset is powered by a 1800mAh battery.

Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, and aGPS are also there, along with 16GB of internal storage, and a micro-SD card slot which is said to offer support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

Since the rumored specs included “quad-band, UMTS, LTE, HSDPA, HSUPA” connectivity, chances are that the actual device is not the Verizon-bound Thunderbolt, but another phone, meant to arrive on shelves in Europe.

We'll take these specs with a big grain of salt, while waiting for the official announcement to shed some light into the matter.

In the meantime, we should note that Engadget found what appears to be an ad for the upcoming device, which might confirm some of the above specs, including the 8 megapixel snapper, the front-facing camera, large display, and possible 4G video chat capabilities.
