Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is expected to make available for purchase on its airwaves a new, highly appealing smartphone in the not too far future, namely the HTC ThunderBolt, but specific info on the handset's release date lack at the moment.

However, following a wide range of rumors on the possible arrival of this device before the end of February, which didn't pan out in the end, some new reports on the matter started to emerge.

Some suggest that the new high-end device would be set to become available for purchase at Verizon as soon as this week, but recently leaked documents (via Android Central) tell a different story.

Apparently, the HTC ThunderBolt would be set to arrive on shelves on March 10th, while sporting a price tag of $299 with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier (via phonedog).

This would be Verizon's first phone with support for the 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network the carrier fired up in December.

It seems to be a great device, but the $299 price tag would make it less appealing than what some might expect, and the listed $749.99 off contract price tag is not helping either.

However, it would not come too much as a surprise if Verizon did launch the smartphone at this cost next month.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the specs list of this Android 2.2 Froyo-based device includes a large 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display, along with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Moreover, the new mobile phone includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with HD video recording capabilities, as well as a microSD memory card slot, with a 32GB card included into the mix from the start.

Other specs of this device would include wireless DLNA and Mobile Hotspot capabilities (supports up to 8 Wi-Fi devices), as well as support for download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps on Verizon's LTE network.

Since nothing is official on the phone's landing and on its price tag, we'll take the new reports on its availability with a grain of salt.

Correction, the phone is now listed on the officail htc website that the phone is going for 699.99 not 749.99. So this may mean with a 2 year it may be 249.99 or still 299.99. Time will tell.
