HTC ThunderBolt, the first Android-based mobile phone that Verizon Wireless launched on its airwaves with support for 4G LTE connectivity, is now available for purchase from Amazon for only $174.99.

The handset was launched at Verizon several weeks ago, and was made available for purchase through various retail channels, including Amazon, which had it available for $179.99 initially.

Free of contract, the mobile phone sports a price tag of $699.99 at Amazon. The retailer lists it with free two-day shipping.

“One of the world's first 4G LTE Android smartphones, the HTC ThunderBolt 4G for Verizon Wireless takes advantage of the fastest, most advanced 4G network in America,” the retailer notes on its website.

The mobile phone comes with a 4.3-inch multi-touch Super LCD display on the front, complemented by a 1 GHz Snapdragon application processor inside.

On the back, the new device spots am 8-megapixel photo snapper with support for HD 720p video recording, complemented by a 1.3-MP front-facing camera for video calls.

The HTC ThunderBolt runs under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, which offers support for Adobe Flash 10.1 so that users would enjoy rich content while on the go.

The phone sports a 1400 mAh rechargeable battery, as well as a 32 GB microSD memory card included in the box.

At the same time, the device comes with 4G connectivity capabilities, and with support for Verizon's 3G network, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, and with a GPS receiver inside.

“The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network provides speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless' 3G network,” the retailer notes.

“With 4G LTE, you'll enjoy simultaneous voice and data capabilities, allowing you to check e-mail, browse the web, download an app, and check directions on Google Maps while on a call.”
