Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced today the launch of another handset running under Google's Android operating system, the HTC Tattoo. The new device had been spotted in the wild before, only that it had the name of HTC Click, and comes to the market as the second device with HTC Sense.

“Everyone wants their own phone to feel like it was specifically made for them. The Tattoo, with HTC Sense represents an easy way to shape your own distinct mobile experience and really make it your own,” Peter Chou, chief executive officer, HTC Corporation, said. “The HTC Tattoo ensures that you can create the most engaging and appropriate mobile experience through simple yet powerful personalization.”

The new mobile phone comes to the market with a series of distinct elements that differentiate it from the rest of the launched HTC Android phones, such as the disappearance of the already popular Android chin. According to HTC, the new device enables users to customize it the way it suits them best, including its applications, content and hardware.

The handset comes in a small and compact form factor, while packing inside a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper, as well as a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a 2.8-inch touchscreen display that boasts a QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) resolution, GPS, Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth connectivity, an accelerometer, support for 900/2100MHz HSPA/UMTS and quad-band GSM/EDGE, and a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, coupled with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM (a microSD memory card slot is also present with the device).

HTC Sense, the mobile experience HTC's Hero came to the market with first, is based on three “fundamental principles:” Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected. The user experience is even further enhanced through the possibility to design and purchase the covers for the phone. According to HTC, the new Android-powered Tattoo is expected to become available for purchase in Europe at the beginning of October, while reaching other markets around the world in the following months.
