On September 1st, mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced the release of its first handsets running under Microsoft's new Windows Phone Mango platform, one of which was the HTC TITAN, a high-end smartphone.

The mobile phone was spotted into the wild before, under the name of HTC Eternity, but now it is official, and should arrive on shelves in October this year.

This is the largest smartphone HTC has ever announced to the world, packing a 4.7-inch touchscreen display, and featuring an ultra-thin 9.9mm aluminum body.

“With its large, cinematic display, the HTC TITAN packs an amazing amount of power and innovation into a device that is unlike anything you’ve ever held before,” Jason Mackenzie, president of Global Sales and Marketing, HTC Corporation, stated.

The specifications list of HTC's new Windows Phone Mango device includes a bright 4.7-inch super LCD screen, complemented by a fast 1.5 GHz application processor, for increased performance capabilities.

The new device also comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD 720p video recording, complemented by a 1.3MP camera that would enable video calling.

The handset also comes with 512 MB of RAM and with 16 GB of internal memory, G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, Gyro Sensor, and Ambient light sensor.

It also sports Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, 3G connectivity, and built-in GPS receiver. There is a 1600 mAh battery inside TITAN, capable of delivering up to 710 minutes of talk time on GSM, or up to 360 hours of standby time.

The smartphone also comes with various multimedia and productivity features, multitasking capabilities, and applications like the built-in Microsoft Office Mobile, advanced email features like Linked inboxes, and Microsoft OneNote to keep notes into the cloud.

The new mobile phone also includes HTC Watch, an app that offers access to the latest, premium movies and TV shows, Virtual 5.1 surround sound, Xbox LIVE, and more.

“Phones were originally designed for communication, but they haven’t kept up with the way consumers are actually communicating today,” Andy Lees, president of Windows Phone Division, stated.

“That’s why we built Windows Phone to put people first, building in all the key types of communication people are already using right out of the box.”

The new HTC TITAN is expected to arrive on shelves in October 2011 in Europe and Asia, but it will be released all around the world. The handset is expected to feature a price tag of $850.
