Today, Mobile phone maker HTC Corporation and leading provider of location and navigation solutions TomTom announced an agreement through which HTC's smartphones would pack navigation and location solutions from TomTom.

Through the new agreement, HTC’s new mapping experience, dubbed HTC Locations, would come preloaded with TomTom’s location-rich maps, which should result in users enjoying a “zero-wait navigation experience” on their devices.

According to the two companies, the HTC Locations solution is to be included in the new HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z smartphones when they land on shelves across Europe and Asia.

“I am very pleased to be providing HTC customers with TomTom’s accurate location and navigation content on their phones wherever they are,” says Maarten van Gool, Managing Director of TomTom Licensing.

“The beauty of it is that the maps are preloaded and instantly available at users’ fingertips. For the first time, this makes the power of TomTom navigation content available ‘in-pocket’ for HTC smartphone users.”

The mobile phone maker also announced that HTC Locations would be packed inside other devices too, beside the HTC Desire HD and Desire Z, and that it would be released in more markets around the world.

According to the company, the HTC Locations solution would arrive pre-loaded with maps and location content.

Moreover, users should have the possibility to purchase and download turn-by-turn navigation via HTC Locations or HTC Sync, the company announced.

“This partnership with TomTom underlines HTC’s commitment to giving our customers an innovative navigation experience that is natural and provides unique enhancements for common navigation needs,” said John Wang, Chief Marketing Officer, HTC Corporation.

“HTC and TomTom have worked closely to optimize these amazing capabilities on HTC smartphones through our new HTC Locations application.”

HTC Desire HD and Desire Z are the first Android-based smartphones from the company to land on shelves with the new HTC Sense solution, while also being the first to include support for the new HTCSense.com portal from the company.
