Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is shutting down the HTCSense.com service after only two years.

Apparently, the company is set to upgrade the HTCSense.com website and the services associated with it, and has to kill off the older product in the process.

At the moment, users accessing the website are unable to take advantage of any of the features usually available for them.

Moreover, they are informed that the service is being shut down, and that they should download their data from HTCSense.com until April 30th, 2012, provided that they synced their Contacts, Messages, Footprints or Call History with it.

“HTCSense.com is undergoing a renovation to improve the services and value we deliver to customers like you,” HTC notes on the website.

“Until the new services are ready, features previously available on HTCSense.com will be shutting down.

“If you have been using HTCSense.com to sync your Contacts, Messages, Footprints or Call History, you can download your data through April 30, 2012. After April 30, your data will no longer be accessible and will be deleted.”

Users’ data is stored on the company’s servers under the form of .zip file. To download it, people will have to log into their accounts on HTCSense.com with their username and password and hit the 'Download' button in the Account Overview section.

They will then have the .zip file containing their data downloaded to their computers for easy viewing, the smartphone designer notes.

“If you would like phone location or backup services for your device, please visit Google Play (formerly Android Market) and download an application that best meets your needs. If you need additional assistance, please contact HTC Customer Service,” HTC also notes.

The mobile phone maker also promises more info on the availability of the new service in the not too distant future. Existing HTCSense.com users will be notified on the availability of the new offering first.
