HTC’s Sense UI is one of the most popular custom interfaces for Google’s Android operating system out there, and it is about to become better, it seems.

What appears to be the next version of HTC’s user interface for Android, namely Sense 4.1, has already leaked online, and made it over to XDA-Developers.

The UI was loaded on a ROM destined for the International flavor of HTC One X and was taken out for a spin by an enthusiast.

Interestingly enough, it appears that HTC actually focused on the performance of the UI with this release, thus making the phone run faster than before.

With the new Sense 4.1 loaded on it, HTC One X managed to score almost 6,000 on the Quadrant Benchmark test.

The leaked Sense flavor, version 2.15.401.5, came along with fixes for Live Wallpaper lags and with removed 3D effects to boost the performance of the device even more.

At the same time, those who tried out the leaked software note that there is a dedicated button in the camera app that provides users with the possibility to easily switch between the back and front cameras.

Moreover, Internet browsing was made easier as well, courtesy of a new dedicated button that enables users to easily switch between tabs.

The ROM that packs Sense 4.1 inside also comes with a reworked kernel, which is much faster than the previous versions, hence the aforementioned boost in performance in the Quadrant Benchmark.

Some other improvements included in this ROM range from better Wi-Fi connectivity to longer battery life, and the possibility to switch between recently used apps faster than before.

Those who would like to learn more on the new ROM should head over to this page on XDA-Developers. If you would like to install it on your device, remember that it is available only for the international version of One X.
