HTC Sensation, the high-end smartphone that HTC Corporation unveiled only a few weeks ago, was expected to land on shelves in France on May 12th, but its release was pushed back.

The mobile phone was set to land in the country on the airwaves of wireless carrier SFR, which had exclusivity on the device.

The wireless services provider has just announced that the release of HTC Sensation was delayed, but did not offer specific info on what determined it to take this decision.

According to the wireless carrier, while no new release date for the device was set as of now, the launch won't take place before the end of the next week.

Apparently, HTC themselves delayed the launch, as the carrier notes they are currently waiting for a new release date to be provided.

The smartphone is expected to arrive on shelves in other countries as soon as next week, and it remains to be seen whether it would be delayed there as well.

Vodafone UK is expected to launch the handset on May 19th. No info on a possible delay has emerged for the time being.

Chances are that HTC discovered some last minute issues with the mobile phone, and that it pushed back the launch so make sure that these problems are solved.

HTC Sensation was unveiled to the world with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS flavor on board, and with a powerful 1.2GHz application processor packed inside.

The handset also sports a large 4.3-inch screen, an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and 4GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The mobile phone also comes with 3G connectivity, WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in GPS receiver, and the whole range of usual sensors, as well as with support for various services from Google.
