HTC India officially introduced the Sensation XL two weeks ago, but the company was illusive on the phone’s availability on the market.

However, the folks over at AndroidOS found out that the smartphone has just hit shelves and is now available for purchase from leading retailers across the country.

For example, Flipkart is now offering the White Silver HTC Sensation XL for a whopping price of Rs 38,799 (725 USD or 555 EUR).

The HTC Sensation XL is a direct result of the collaboration between the Taiwanese handset maker HTC and Dr. Dre’s Beats Audio.

The companies entered an agreement several months ago to offer customers smartphones with advanced multimedia features.

The Sensation XL is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and HTC Sense 3.5 user interface. However, HTC already confirmed that some of its top tier smartphones will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade next year.

The smartphone is equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8255 Scorpion processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit.

On the inside, the Sensation XL packs 16GB onboard memory and 768 MB of RAM, but for unknown reasons it lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

According to HTC, the Sensation XL is a “stylish, sleek and classy touchscreen phone with multimedia options.”

It boasts an amazing 4.7-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 16 million colors. Unfortunately, the screen has a disappointing 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

There’s also an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features dual-LED flash, autofocus and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and chats.

The phone’s 1600 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 11 hours of talk time in 2G mode and 6 hours in 3G.

Furthermore, when fully charged the smartphone provides up to 360 hours of standby time in 3G mode and 460 hours in 2G.
