HTC India officially introduced the Sensation XE smartphone in India, though the device was already being sold by multiple major retailers in the last couple of days.

Although the Taiwanese handset manufacturer announced a suggested retail price of Rs 35,490 (680 USD or 510 EUR), the folks at AndroidOS claim that the HTC Sensation XE will be sold a bit cheaper at Rs 33,990 (650 USD or 490 EUR).

However, major retailer Flipkart is offering a better deal on the HTC Sensation XE, as the smartphone is now available for Rs 32,400 (620 USD or 465 EUR), so customers can take their pick.

HTC Sensation XE is among the first products released by the handset maker in collaboration with Dr. Dre’s Audio Beats company. In this regard, the smartphone comes with Beats Audio hardware and Beats headset that offer an improved multimedia experience.

The phone comes with a large 4.3-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen that boasts 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors support.

A full range of sensors is provided as well, including ambient light sensor, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and Gyro sensor.

On the inside, the Sensation XE is equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM 8260 Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit. It also packs 4 GB storage (1GB user available), 768 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The phone runs Google’s Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system and might be one of the devices to get the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade next year.

Audio is a crucial part of any consumer’s mobile experience and we are constantly pushing the audio boundaries to achieve not only improved voice but music, movies and gaming experience. The HTC Sensation XE offers a truly incredible experience that demonstrates our commitment to place consumers at the center of their mobile worlds,” said Faisal Siddiqui, country manager, HTC India.
