HTC's new flagship Android smartphone, the Sensation is now available for purchase in India, but the Taiwanese handset manufacturer has yet to announce it officially.

Introduced by online retailer Letsbuy last week, HTC Sensation is now in stock and can be ordered via Flipkart, another Indian major retailer.

While Letsbuy's delivery time was 5 to 8 working days at that time, it appears that customers who wish to purchase the Sensation from Flipkart won't need to wait the extra time.

HTC Sensation can now be purchased from Flipkart for Rs. 30,499 (about $680) without contract and 1-year HTC India warranty, as well as free transit insurance.

The handset runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread along with the new and improved HTC Sense 3.0 UI on top of it.

For those out of the loop, the Sensation is equipped with a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon application processor, complemented by the next-generation Adreno 220 graphical processing unit.

The phone features full HSDPA support and boasts a superior 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, dual-LED flash, image stabilization, face detection, instant capture, as well as secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

Furthermore, it comes with a large 4.3-inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

In addition, it packs 1 GB of internal memory, 768 MB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8GB included).

According to the handset maker, the phone's 1520 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 350 hours (400 hours for 3G) of standby time or up to 8 hours (7 hours for 3G) of talk time.

HTC India is expected to make an official statement regarding the Sensation's availability some time tomorrow, along with the phone's suggested retail price, which is likely to be higher than the one offered by some authorized retailers.
