Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is set to bring to the market new devices running under Microsoft's Windows Phone platform, the company's CEO Peter Chou confirmed recently.

In all fairness, this does not come as a surprise, since the handset vendor was already known to be working on the release of new smartphones powered by the mobile platform.

Apparently, the leading telecoms company would remain committed to the mobile operating system that helped it make a name for itself on the market.

For those out of the loop, we should note that HTC was the largest provider of Windows Mobile-based devices for a few years in a row, and that it was also the vendor to launch the largest number of Windows Phones last fall.

The mobile phone maker did not confirm specific info on the devices that it would bring to the market in the future with Windows Phone on board, but did say that they are working on the release of Mango-based smartphones.

Previous rumors on the company's plans for the future suggested that they might have in store a series of highly appealing new Windows Phone devices.

One of these phones would sport the codename of HTC Bresson, and rumor has it that it would arrive on shelves with a dual-core application processor inside, and with a 16-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

The mobile phone would be set to hit the market along with other high-end devices from the company, also based on Windows Phone, such as HTC Ignite and Prime, or the recently leaked HTC Omega and HTC Eternity.

The same as Bresson, the Eternity would be a flagship model, with a 4.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display on board, and with an 8-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash on the back. It would include a 1.5GHz application processor, with two cores.

The one thing that is certain at the moment is that HTC would indeed bring to the market new handsets powered by Microsoft's mobile OS, but it remains to be seen what exactly the vendor has in store for users, so stay tuned for more.
