Shortly after HTC and Verizon Wireless introduced the DROID DNA in the United States, the Taiwanese handset maker released the smartphone’s kernel source code.

Those who wish to start tweaking the phone software can grab the 102 MB file via HTCdev site. Keep in mind that DROID DNA’s bootloader can be unlocked through an exploit explained by AndroidPolice.

The first kernel source code 1.15.605.4 for HTC DROID DNA will allow devs and Android tech savvy to start cooking customized ROMs and offer improved custom ROM support.

HTC DROID DNA is the first Android smartphone in the United States to offer a full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution.

This is one of the few competitors to Samsung’s Galaxy Note II phablet, which is available for purchase from Verizon Wireless as well.
