HTC says Windows Phone 7 devices might come from day one

Redmond-based software giant Microsoft unveiled officially in early 2010 a new mobile operating system, dubbed Windows Phone 7, which should arrive on handsets on the market before the end of the ongoing year. We already learned that a series of major mobile phone makers plans on launching handsets powered by the new platform, and now we received further confirmation that the Taiwan-based vendor HTC Corporation would be among them.

Moreover, the company seems determined to be among the first to launch phones running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 OS, at least this is what Eric Lin, the company's global PR and online community manager, stated recently, a recent article on Pocket-lint reports. “We have every expectation that we’re going to be there on day one,” Lin stated during Qualcomm's Uplinq conference in San Diego.

However, it seems that nothing is quite official for the time being, and that Lin's statement does not come as a commitment. “I know that we’re working with Microsoft. I know that we have access to the OS, to the tools, so I have every reason to believe that we’re going to be there on day one,” he continued, according to the news site.

HTC is the largest provider of smartphones running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, and Lin says that it was only natural that the company would launch Windows Phone 7 devices among the first manufacturers. Even if it won't do so, it would still remain a leading company in the area. “I think it’s one of those cases where we’re really in a situation where people don’t mention us because they simply don’t have to,” Lin notes.

He also commented on the limitations Microsoft imposed to handset vendors, such as the fact that they won't be able to change the core applications or to pre-load their own user interface on top of the operating system. Even so, the company would be able to add some of its solutions into the mix, and some of them would most probably land on the homescreen.

HTC,
I don’t want any software from you on the phone. I want your great hardware and Microsoft’s OS and nothing more.

There is NO NEED for you to add anything to the OS, people will buy the HTC version because of your trusted name in producing excellent hardware.

If you MUST add something, please give me the ability to turn it off.

Thank You
