The smartphone might be launched by other carriers as well

Major carrier Rogers confirmed it would exclusively offer Nokia’s Lumia 710 smartphone in Canada. However, carriers unable to offer one of Nokia’s new Windows Phone devices will continue to bring customers some of the smartphones manufactured by Samsung, HTC or LG.

In this regard, Videotron is reportedly preparing to launch the HTC Radar, one of the Windows Phone devices showcased last year at IFA trade fair.

La Press Canada reports that Videotron might release the HTC Radar “in early spring,” though there’s no word on the exact release date of the smartphone or on pricing options.

Given the phone’s AWS support, the HTC Radar might be launched by other Canadian carriers such as Mobilicity and WIND Mobile.

Just like Nokia Lumia 710, the HTC Radar runs Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, but the latter is equipped with a slightly lower 1 Ghz single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor.

On the other hand, the HTC Radar has a slightly larger 3.8-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen display (480 x 800 pixels resolution) with Corning Gorilla Glass coating. The Lumia 710 features a smaller 3.7-inch display, but this one is based on Nokia’s ClearBlack technology.

Both smartphones sport a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, but HTC Radar also packs a secondary VGA front-facing camera.

On the inside, Nokia Lumia 710 and HTC Radar are similar, as each smartphone embeds 8GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. Obviously, there’s no microSD card slot for memory expansion.

In the connectivity front, HTC Radar offers a wide range of options, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, GPS with A-GPS (Bing Maps), as well as microUSB port.

It is also worth mentioning that HTC Radar is powered by a 1520 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 480 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time.
