Next week, during a press event already announced for Tuesday, April 12th, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is expected to make official a new high-end device, which was spotted into the wild quite a few times before under the name of HTC Pyramid.

However, it seems that the new device might not sport this very name when made available for purchase on shelves, but that it would be named HTC Sensation.

In all fairness, this does not come too much as a surprise, since HTC is known to be using one set of names for its devices during the development phase, while having them available for purchase with different monikers.

According to a recent article on Pocket-lint, the HTC Sensation (Pyramid) would indeed be unveiled in the UK on Tuesday, during the aforementioned press event, while being expected to hit the market in the country in the next few months.

“I can clear up a couple of those questions for you. It will be coming to the UK, though I can't say to which network,” one source familiar with the matter told the news site.

However, while the HTC Sensation name was confirmed for the device, other details on it remain shrouded in mystery, it seems, including info on its pricing and sale availability, or on the hardware specifications it would sport.

Previous rumors on the mobile phone suggested that HTC might launch it with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display on board, complemented by a fast dual-core 1.2GHz application processor.

The upcoming device, which should be based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, is also expected to land with a high-quality camera on the back, most probably an 8MP one, with HD video recording capabilities, and with a front-facing camera for video calls.

In addition to the usual connectivity options, such as 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth, the phone should also include a microSD memory card slot to allow users easily expand the available storage space.
