Soon, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC and its Canadian operator partners should make the Android 4.4 KitKat platform upgrade available for the owners of carrier-branded devices in the country, as the platform is currently pending approvals in the country.

HTC was expected to start delivering the update to users before the end of this month, but this might not actually happen, given that there’s only one week left until February arrives.

However, as MobileSyrup notes, the new OS upgrade should be right around the corner, as wireless services providers in the country are currently testing it for approval.

Those who will head over to HTC’s support website will see that Bell, Rogers, TELUS, SaskTel, Virgin and WIND have already received the software.

Unfortunately, there’s no specific info available on how much time these operators will need before pushing the update out of the labs for deployment.

Most of them usually need around two weeks to complete the certification process, which means that Android 4.4 KitKat for HTC One should have entered their labs over a week ago in order to be ready for release before the end of January.

HTC One users will receive a nice range of improvements as part of the new update, just as those who own an unlocked version of the device did.

Apparently, owners of the HTC One mini smartphone on the network of Rogers will also benefit from the new update.

The update should include the Android 4.4.2 OS version, along with a new user interface, none other than the Sense 5.5 UI. Moreover, users will be enjoying various performance improvements as part of the upgrade, which are said to make the phone visibly faster than before.

Hopefully, the new software version will begin rolling out sooner rather than later, so keep an eye on this space for additional details on the matter.
