Owners of HTC One mini and HTC Butterfly S smartphones in Hong Kong will receive an update to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system before the end of this year, the handset vendor has officially confirmed.

Furthermore, HTC Hong Kong has also announced that the two smartphones will also get a taste of the Sense 5.5 user interface as part of the new OS upgrade, GSMInsider reports.

HTC One mini, the smaller, downgraded flavor of HTC One, has also received a price cut in this market, now being available for purchase at only HK$3,498 ($451/€334).

For those out of the loop, we should note that HTC One mini was launched with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, as well as with a 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU inside.

Furthermore, the phone packs 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, an 1800mAh battery, and HSPA+ and LTE connectivity.

On the back, the device features a 4MP UltraPixel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities, complemented by a 1.6-megapixel front camera for video calling.

HTC Butterfly S, on the other hand, was launched as the successor of last year’s HTC Butterfly, featuring a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display and a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor inside.

The smartphone also packs Adreno 320, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage space.

It comes with the same UltraPixel camera on the back, as well as with a 2.1MP front camera and with a Li-Po 3200mAh battery. HTC also included the entire range of usual connectivity capabilities inside the Butterfly S.

As mentioned above, both HTC One mini and Butterfly S are quite new devices, and HTC was expected to bring them up to Android 4.3 as soon as possible. What remains to be seen is if or when they will get a taste of Android 4.4 KitKat too.
