As expected, HTC has just announced its first Android phablet, the One max. The smartphone has been confirmed to arrive in the UK within the next few days, but more details on HTC One max exact release date and price tag will be available soon.

Although the smartphone does not come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, HTC confirmed its phablet would ship with the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system onboard, along with HTC Sense 5.5 user interface.

Furthermore, HTC One max features the rumored, and so much praised, fingerprint scanner which is placed on the back side right under the main camera.

Speaking of which, the phablet sports a 4-Ultpixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens, autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p@30fps or 720p@60fps) video recording. There’s also a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The phone’s huge 5.9-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display supports full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 373ppi (pixel density).

On the inside, HTC One max comes equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

There will be two versions of One max that pack different storage: 16GB and 32GB. Both versions will pack microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB). Keep in mind that HTC One max also comes with 50GB of free Google Drive storage.

The phablet measures 164.5 x 82.5 x 10.29mm and weighs 217g (battery included). It features an aluminum body and a removable back cover.

It appears that HTC One max is the first major smartphone launched by the Taiwanese handset maker that does not feature Beat Audio, but the company added its own BoomSound sound technology.

It’s unclear if the 3,300 mAh Li-Ion battery is removable as well, but HTC confirmed it should provide up to 585 hours of standby time or up to 28 hours of talk time.
