The One max is HTC's first try on phablets and the device is already available for purchase in a few countries. However, Indian customers won’t be able to grab the smartphone until next week.

Indian online publication Business Standard reports that HTC One max will arrive in the country sometime next week and will be priced at Rs 56,000 outright, which is about $895 or €660.

The information has been confirmed by HTC India head Faisal Siddiqui, who told Business Standard that his company planned to launch between two and four new Desire models by the end of this December.

“Besides, we will be launching HTC One max priced at Rs 56,000 and two accessories — HTC One MiniPlus (Rs 5,000) and Phone Finder (Rs 2,500) — in the Indian market next week,” added Siddiqui.

Unfortunately, the Taiwanese handset maker doesn't have too big of a share of the Indian smartphone market. HTC has the habit of pricing its flagship smartphones incredibly high in India, which is why customers prefer to turn to other brands with a more affordable pricing policy.

All in all, HTC One max is a beast of a phone. The device ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and packs a powerful 1.7 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.

Another selling point of the phablet is the huge 5.9-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

The smartphone comes with fingerprint scanner integrated and the usual 4-UltraPixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Other highlights of the phone include 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion, secondary 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera and LTE support. For more details on the phablet's features, check out our database for HTC One max’s full specs sheet.
