Australian mobile phone carrier Vodafone is gearing up for the release of a new highly appealing Android-based mobile phone on its airwaves, namely the HTC One X.

The quad-core smartphone was made official at the end of last month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

At the moment, the handset is listed on the wireless carrier’s website on a coming soon page, and those who would like to learn more on its availability should head there to register for updates.

“Extraordinary quad-core power gives you lightning-fast web browsing performance, remarkable picture quality & hyper-realistic gaming effects all on a giant, 4.7-inch HD screen,” Vodafone notes on its website.

The company is getting ready to announce the phone's landing during a press event on Tuesday the 3rd of April, 2012 in Sydney, and will allow some of its users to come to the launch.

“The best part is, I can take 5 of you with me, and you each get to bring a friend along,” Andrew Tran, Social Media, Vodafone Australia, notes in a blog post.

“I’ve got 5 double passes to give away to come hang with me and get your hands on the HTC One X to play with at the HTC One launch party in Sydney.”

As for the device itself, we should note that it comes to the market with a 4.7" (1280x720 HD720p) Super-LCD screen to complement the said quad-core processor.

It also sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD video recording, as well as a 1.3MP camera on the front for making video calls.

The handset packs 3G and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity capabilities, along with GPS receiver, microSD memory card slot, and the like.

We should also note that the mobile phone is powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and that it will arrive at Vodafone Australia all dressed up in white.
