HTC is expected to bring to the market its own 5-inch Android smartphone in the not too distant future, and enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for it to arrive.

One of them even came up with a concept design for the handset, published it on Flickr and called it HTC One X 5.

Some people believed that it might be a press-render of the actual 5-inch behemoth from HTC, but it isn’t, and its designer states it clearly.

Just as one might expect from a concept phone, this device breaks the pattern handset vendors use and brings along a new, slightly modified look.

The screen of HTC One X 5 is longer than usual, resembling that of Apple’s new iPhone 5, but is edge-to-edge and does not increase the size of the device too much.

On the back, a camera with LED flash is present, though no dedicated camera button can be seen on the phone’s size. The concept device also sports soft buttons, while packing Beats Audio inside.

No info on what hardware specs this device could include has been provided, but we can assume that the rumored details on HTC’s actual 5-inch smartphone would fit very well in it.

Thus, we could see it running a quad-core application processor from Qualcomm, complemented by 1GB or more of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean could be loaded on it, with HTC’s own user interface loaded on top, the popular Sense UI.

While this smartphone is only a concept device, chances are that the Taiwanese mobile phone maker would make its real handset official in the coming weeks.

The phone was recently said to be en-route to Verizon as DROID Incredible X, and to be called internally DIx. Moreover, it is expected to hit the shelves with a full HD touchscreen, a feature that would certainly make it highly appealing.
