It appears that HTC decided to launch the One S smartphone in Taiwan with different specs. Instead of the usual Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, the Taiwanese people will be able to grab a slightly different smartphone that comes equipped with 1.7 GHz CPU.

The handset maker announced that the HTC One S would be available with a Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon S3 chipset, though it did not offer an explanation. However, one of company’s officials said that the “mobile phone will provide consumers the same experience.”

HTC One S is available for purchase in Taiwan for 600 USD (485 EUR) outright, and comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

The rest of the features are similar to the international version, so expect this one to come with 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 16GB of internal memory and a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display.
