HTC One M9 should have been made available in Taiwan today

HTC might have announced its latest One M9 flagship at MWC 2015 in Barcelona, but the handset wasn't yet ready to ship out to customers.

After the grand event, it was revealed that the phone would be offered first on the Taiwanese market, and March 16 was pegged for the happening.

But as it often happens, plans don’t necessarily go through. Which appears to be the case in this scenario. According to a fresh tidbit of information, it seems that HTC was forced to delay the launch of its latest flagship, so it won’t be making it out today (as seen at Focus Taiwan).

HTC One M9 won't make it out today

Several reports have confirmed that the Taiwanese company had to postpone starting shipments of the highly anticipated HTC One M9.

The reason for this? It seems the new premium handset has been delayed because it is planned to receive “the latest version of software.” Information about the updated timeline has not been provided, except for the fact that the One M9 will start shipping out “as soon as possible.” Whatever that means.

The HTC One M9 was announced with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, but given that Google launched the Android 5.1 version, could it be possible that HTC wants to put the latest version on board its One M9?

It’s pretty unlikely, since this issue could be solved by the company pushing out a software update. But there’s another theory perpetuated around.

Software issues are blamed for the delay

Users who already pre-ordered the One M9 in the country have apparently been informed of the real issue and have given further information to chew upon. So, according to the messages they received, the launch has been postponed to Friday, March 20, due to issues related to a software bug that can ultimately lead to “boot failure.”

This isn't really encouraging news, but hopefully HTC will have time to fix the problems in time to meet the self-imposed deadline we mentioned above.

Outside Taiwan, the release date for the new One M9 remains unknown. However, a few days ago, an electronics store in New York claimed that the new HTC flagship would start going on sale on March 25, exactly one year after the One M8’s release.
