The HTC One M9 is not a very popular device

Just a few months back HTC released its latest flagship product into the wild, but sadly, the mobile world hasn’t been keen on embracing it. And in certain parts of the world, the One M9 got plainly rejected.

HTC made a pretty bold move at MWC 2015 when it unveiled its latest One M9 flagship, hours before Samsung took the stage and unleashed the Galaxy S6 beast.

But while Samsung’s baby was praised by reviewers and customers alike, the One M9 didn’t get the same treatment.

The general consensus regarding the company’s latest flagship is that the One M9 failed to differentiate itself from other models on the market, but also from its predecessor, the One M8.

HTC's One M9 is performing quite poorly sales-wise

It’s not the first time we’ve been telling you that demand for the HTC One M9 has proven to be very slow. At some point, a report came in saying that the Taiwanese company was forced to lower its component orders for the new flagship by 30% due to poor demand.

Well, today’s sad story comes out of Canada, where carrier Koodo has apparently discontinued the One M9. Surely, you might be lucky enough to find some units left if you’re willing to drive down to one of the physical stores, but Koodo’s official website fails to list HTC’s latest top-tier phone.

Interestingly, we can see that the Canadian carrier is still offering the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, which are older models, while HTC doesn’t seem to be able to push its most recent device.

Apart from not being able to stand out of the crowd with its One M9, HTC has also opted to put the Snapdragon 810 chip inside the handset, which has seen its fair share of controversy. The silicone piece has been accused of overheating, and even though Qualcomm has refuted the claims, the buzz around these issues continued to persist.

Japanese carrier DoCoMo actually acknowledged these problems openly and warned customers of the issues they might be faced with while using a Snapdragon 810-powered device.

The One M9’s camera capabilities have also been ardently criticized, so to appease them, HTC rolled out two distinct updates in the course of several months to improve image quality. However, this didn’t seem to help convince more customers that the One M9 was worth spending money on.
