Following the official unveiling of HTC One M8 at the end of March, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is reportedly gearing up for the release of new versions of the device and could make them official as soon as the next month.

According to a recent post on ePrice, the company will launch an HTC One M8 mini handset in its homeland market in May, in line with what the previous reports on the matter have suggested.

The new device is said to include a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, and to be powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor.

Moreover, the mini device should also feature 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, as well as the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform with the Sense 6.0 UI loaded on top, as PhoneArena notes.

Basically, the HTC One M8 mini won’t be merely a smaller variant of the latest flagship handset from the company, but also a downgraded one.

No official confirmation on the device has been provided as of now, but it might not be too long before HTC formally introduces it, that’s for sure.

According to some other reports, HTC is also planning the launch of a plastic variant of One M8, one that should arrive on shelves in China next month with a much lower price tag attached to it. Stay tuned for more on both handsets.
