Soon, more devices running under the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system will arrive on the market, and one of them will be made by HTC, it seems.

The phone, rumored a few days ago to be a new flavor of the HTC One (M8) flagship, has been detailed a bit more today, and is expected to become official in the United States on Verizon’s networks as soon as next month.

What’s interesting to note is that HTC appears determined to release it with about the same name as its Android-based high-end smartphone.

According to a recent article on Engadget, we might see the device being launched as HTC One (M8) for Windows Phone, though this is only a tentative name for it at the moment, it seems.

The handset features the codename of W8, and is expected to arrive on the market with many of the features that its Android-based counterpart sports at the moment.

Thus, Windows Phone fans who will go for this smartphone will enjoy dual HTC BoomSound speakers on its front, along with the depth-sensing Duo camera on the back.

Additionally, the mobile phone should arrive on shelves with support for Voice over LTE, a feature that will make a debut on Microsoft’s mobile OS when Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 arrives.

The upcoming platform upgrade is also said to add support for Phone Cover Apps, which suggests that HTC could release the Windows Phone-based HTC One M8 with the Dot View Case included in the package.

In fact, WPCentral hints that Microsoft Stores are already planning on stocking new accessories for upcoming devices, including the aforementioned covers, which suggests that the official launch might not be too far ahead.

The news site also mentions that we could see HTC One (M8) for Windows Phone made official on August 21 at Verizon, and that there’s no info on the handset’s possible arrival at other wireless carriers as well.

The mobile phone should land on shelves with a price tag of $610 (€454) attached to it, contract-free. Those interested in getting it on a two-year contract will pay around $199 (€148) for the device.

No official confirmation on the HTC One (M8) for Windows Phone has been provided as of now, but it seems that there are roughly three weeks left until the phone might be formally introduced, which means that more details should emerge in the meantime, so stay tuned to learn the news.
