HTC One M8, the latest flagship smartphone coming from Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC, has landed on shelves in various markets around the world over the past couple of weeks, and the first issues with it have already started to emerge.

Apparently, users in Singapore are reporting that their phones are not recognizing SIM cards, and wireless carrier StarHub has already acknowledged the problem, it seems.

"We alerted HTC that a small number of the HTC One (M8) phones could not recognize SIM cards. HTC has advised us that they are investigating the matter,” the carrier said, according to hardwarezone.

“For our customers who face this issue at point of purchase, we will replace the defective device immediately. Current HTC One (M8) users should contact HTC directly or visit their service centre for assistance,” the operator also stated.

No specific info on what is causing said issues has been provided as of now, but it seems that it is not widespread. Some of the users who went to HTC’s service centers said that replacements might not be available right away for faulty handsets.

Apparently, the problem is not with the SIM cards, but with the device itself. However, it remains to be seen whether it is a software issue or a hardware-related one.
