HTC’s new One M8 Eye has been recently launched on the market, but it turns out that the Taiwanese company doesn’t plan to make it available internationally.

It’s true that the smartphone has been introduced in China and a few other Asian countries, as well as in the United States, but Europeans will not be able to get the One M8 Eye anytime soon.

The folks over a fudzilla report they have it confirmed from an HTC rep that the One M8 Eye will not be launched in Austria, Germany or Switzerland because the smartphone has been especially designed for specific markets.

In fact, the One M8 Eye will not be officially introduced in any European countries, according to the same HTC official. Obviously, plans may change in the future, but for now, customers who were anxiously waiting for the One M8 Eye to arrive in Europe may want to find another alternative as this one won’t be coming.

The same report also mentions that HTC One M8 Eye lacks some of the features included in the HTC One M8, such as infrared. These specs were thought not to be necessary in the markets that HTC launched the smartphone, which might be one of the reasons they are missing.

HTC is not yet ready to drop the UltraPixel camera technology

Additionally, HTC confirmed it was still interested in putting UltraPixel cameras into its smartphones, so the fact that it launched the new Eye lineup of smartphone doesn’t mean that the company is ready to shelve the technology.

Anyway, the Desire Eye with its 13-megapxiel rear- and front-facing cameras will definitely be available in Europe, so those who really want a selfie smartphone will sure be able to fulfill their desire soon.

In the same piece of news, HTC let it slip that the DotView case for its Android smartphones is the most successful accessory the company ever produced, which is why it’s determined to make it available to a wide range of handset.

Until then, HTC fans in Europe should be content with the HTC One M8, which is still one of the best smartphones on the market, even if it doesn’t come with a 13-megapixel camera on the back.
