On March 25, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has officially announced its latest Android-based flagship handset, the HTC One (M8), which has already landed in the company’s homeland market.

According to the latest reports on the matter, the smartphone is seeing high demand in the country, and retailers report that they might run out of stock soon.

In fact, local distributor Pdaking has already confirmed that demand for the device is currently higher than supply, although specific details on sales figures haven’t been provided as of now, as Focus Taiwan reports.

The HTC One (M8) was released in the country with a price tag of NT$21,900 ($718/€523) attached to it, with 16GB of internal memory.

The new device comes to the market with a design similar to that of last year’s HTC One, but it also packs a variety of enhancements and new features, including a larger screen and a faster processor.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the new HTC One (M8) was announced with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

The smartphone was also unveiled with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor inside, as well as with 2GB of RAM.

Unlike the HTC One last year, the new model also sports a microSD memory card slot, so as to provide users with the possibility to add more storage space to it.

On the back, the handset packs a twin-sensor camera, with dual-LED flash and support for full HD video recording, complemented by a 5MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

HTC One M8 sports an aluminum unibody design, as well as dual-speakers on the front and the usual set of connectivity capabilities and sensors. The smartphone runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, with HTC's own Sense 6.0 UI loaded on top.

The new device has already landed on shelves in the United States, the UK, and Canada, and it has seen positive reviews in these markets, which suggests that it might actually prove a success.

In Taiwan, users are reportedly impressed not only with its updated design, but also with the new capabilities that HTC has packed it with, such as those powered by the dual-cameras on its back.

HTC has been losing market share for the past several quarters, but chances are that it will finally manage to regain its foothold with HTC One M8, especially since the phone has landed on shelves before Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2 flagships.
