Designer Vishal Bhanushali teases us with a beautiful smartwatch concept

An HTC smartwatch is surely coming our way. Before retiring, leak specialist @evleaks showed us a purported picture of the upcoming device, which will apparently run Android Wear.

Now, the latest word on the street would have us believe that the company is gearing up to roll out the watch in September, which might as well mean we’re going to see the product be put on display at IFA 2014 this week.

Anyway, while we wait to see whether this is the case of not, designer Vishal Bhanushali is teasing us with a beautiful, luxury HTC smartwatch concept dubbed Omni, which we’d love to see become reality.

The smartwatch he envisioned has a metallic strap that really gives this watch a premium feel and comes equipped with Android Wear.

An aspect that you might notice from the get-go is that the belt is sectioned, something we have seen with traditional timepieces but not with smartwatches.

Until now, that is. And we'd dare say we hope smartwatch manufacturers take up this idea at some point in the future.

The main body of the watch is neither circular nor rectangular but a mixture between. Also notice the dial on the side of the Omni smartwatch that blends perfectly well with the beautiful animations on top.

The concept mentioned solar cells being embedded in the metal strap that should supposedly boost up battery life when needed. The luxury timepiece looks quite sturdy, but the designer hasn't envisioned it to be waterproof.

On the contrary, the device has been designed to be more of a premium product, something akin to the upcoming HP smartwatch, which will be created in collaboration with a fashion designer.

The watch doesn't come equipped with fitness-centric applications and is more of a fashion accessory taking advantage of Android Wear.

If such a device would at some point be made available on the market, it would certainly retail for a premium price-tag, so it might not appeal to everybody.

As for the real HTC smartwatch, sadly, we don’t have so much information about it. A recent leak claimed the timepiece might arrive with a 1.8-inch display and boast a resolution of 32 x 160 (which we believe to be a typo, most likely it was meant to be 320 x 160).

The watch will supposedly have a ridiculous 100 mAh battery and be IP57 rated (meaning it will have dust- and water-resistance capabilities).

Will this turn out to be the case? We’ll just have to wait and see.
