HTC Desire 700 was only one of the smartphones that HTC Corporation has decided to make official in India today, with HTC Desire 601 being yet another such handset.

The device was officially introduced worldwide only recently, but it has been showcased a few times before, and it even landed in some markets around the world.

Soon, users in India will also be able to grab the new handset for Rs. 24,190 ($395 / €288), contract-free.

In fact, it will be put up for grabs on December 13 through various retailers in the country, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker announced, AndroidOS reports.

The mobile phone comes to the market with dual-SIM capabilities, which should enable users to have two SIM cards active inside the smartphone at the same time.

HTC Desire 601 arrives on the market with a smaller screen compared to the Desire 700, at only 4.5 inches, though it delivers the same qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution.

The handset is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, and sports only 4GB of internal memory. However, it will allow users to expand the available storage through the addition of microSD memory cards.

On the back, the new HTC Desire 601 features a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, complemented by a VGA camera on the front, great for making video calls while on the go.

HTC Desire 600 features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and DLNA connectivity, as well as a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, a 2100mAh battery, and the usual set of sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor.

The handset also packs HTC BoomSound with Dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers, Sense Voice, the same as HTC One does. Users should also know that the smartphone sports the HTC Sense user interface with HTC BlinkFeed on top of Google’s Android operating system.
