Taiwanese handset maker HTC was among the first to confirm that it would bring Android 4.4 KitKat platform on some of its smartphones. Last week, Jason Mackenzie, head of HTC USA, announced that HTC One would receive the highly anticipated upgrade within 90 days.

However, Mackenzie was only referring to the US version of HTC One, which is now available for purchase through most major carriers.

TechRadar reports that an HTC spokesperson has told them that HTC will work with network operators in EMEA region to bring Android 4.4 KitKat for HTC One, One max and One mini.

When it comes to release timeframes, HTC’s official was pretty specific and said that HTC One would receive the Android 4.4 KitKat starting with the end of January.

The other two HTC smartphones eligible for an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade didn’t receive specific release timeframes, as HTC’s official was a bit vague. He told TechRadar that more details on the HTC One max and HTC One mini would be available soon.

“Across EMEA, HTC will work with local carriers to begin the roll-out of Android 4.4 with Sense 5.5 for the HTC One from end of January.

“The Google Play edition will start to receive the update earlier, starting from the end of November. Details regarding the HTC One max and the HTC One mini will follow.”

In the same piece of news, HTC Canada has also confirmed that the One and One mini smartphones will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update within 90, so it might go live at the same time it rolls out in the US.

Last but not least, those lucky to own the HTC One Developer Edition will receive the Android 4.4 Kit Kat upgrade within 15 days since Google’s announcement, HTC confirmed. This means the update should be available for download sometime at the end of next week.
