Last week, we reported on the availability of an Android 2.2 Froyo software update for the HTC Legend in some markets around the world, including the UK, and it seems that more devices are now being upgraded to the new OS version.

Among these markets, we can count India, Indonesia and Taiwan, androidos.in notes. HTC Legend users in these countries should soon receive a notification on the availability of this solution for their devices, provided they did not receive it already.

“Your phone will receive a notification of FOTA (firmware over the air) update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G.” HTC India notes in a post on its support website.

Following the update, the Build number on their mobile phones would be 3.15.720.3, HTC notes. Users should check that the build on their devices is older than this one before proceeding with the software update.

“After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Build number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Build number). The new Build number after the update will be 3.15.720.3,” the company notes.

Those HTC Legend users interested in the installation of this software update on their devices should know that the solution includes both the Android 2.2 and the HTC Sense user interface.

Prior to launching the installation process, HTC Legend owners should back up all data on their devices, so as to make sure that no important files are lost during.

“Please back up your data first before upgrading your phone. We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply,” HTC also notes.

Additional info on the matter can be found on the company's support website. For the time being, no details emerged on how long it would take before all HTC Legend devices are updated to the new OS version.
