A new flavor of the already highly popular HTC Sensation smartphone is now official, with a series of hardware enhancements into the mix, including a faster application processor, better audio capabilities, and improved battery.

Dubbed HTC Sensation XE, the new mobile phone was spotted into the wild a few weeks ago, and is now official, with the aforementioned improvements inside and with a series of other changes as well, but with unmodified specs too.

For example, while its application processor was boosted from 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz, the Sensation XE comes only with 768MB of RAM, which is the same as on the original device.

The new device comes with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a qHD resolution, as well as with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 1080p video recording.

The mobile phone also comes with a VGA camera on the front, with support for video calling, but this is a feature that has made it inside most Android handsets lately, and it does not come as a surprise that HTC included it with the new Sensation XE as well.

What's new, however, is the Beats Audio setup, which adds modifications both at the hardware level and in the software area. The smartphone also arrives with exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones that also include a remote control in the box.

“Audio is a crucial part of any consumer’s mobile experience and we are continually pushing the audio boundaries to encompass not only improved voice but music, movies and games,” said Jason Mackenzie, president of global sales and marketing, HTC Corporation.

“The HTC Sensation XE offers a truly incredible experience that demonstrates our commitment to place consumers at the center of their mobile worlds.”

The new mobile phone arrives on shelves with Google's Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS on board, with the HTC Sense 3.0 platform loaded on top of it.

The HTC Sensation XE is expected to land on shelves sometime in late September, but specific details on the availability and pricing have not been released for the time being.
