Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has just announced the launch of its Desire S smartphone on the market in Hong Kong.

Moreover, the company announced that the HTC Desire will be launched on the market in Hong Kong exclusively via wireless carrier CSL Limited, and that SiS International Limited would be its exclusive Hong Kong distributor.

The new device is being brought to the market as the successor of the popular HTC Desire, and comes with hardware improvements, as well as with appealing performance enhancements.

The HTC Desire S has been made out of a single block of aluminum, so that it would feel more natural in the hand.

Moreover, the handset packs Qualcomm’s new 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, complemented by 768MB of internal memory, and the HTC Sense UI loaded on top of Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with HTC and help Hong Kong consumers unleash the full potential of the stunning new HTC Desire S,” Mr. Mark Liversidge, Chief Marketing Officer, CSL Limited, commented.

“By riding on our unique UMTS 900 network, HTC Desire S users will enjoy an unparalleled mobile experience broadband network in Asia-Pacific CSL’s network is 1.7 times faster than the next best mobile operator in Hong Kong.”

The specifications list of the new device includes 1.1 GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, and a 3.7-inch screen that boasts a 480 x 800 pixel resolution.

The mobile phone also comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with 720p HD video recording capabilities, as well as with a VGA color fixed focus front camera.

When launched in Hong Kong, the HTC Desire S would also offer access to various services from its wireless carrier. Unfortunately, exact details on the handset's availability and pricing were not unveiled for the time being.

“Users can access to an exciting array of CSL services that deliver a seamless mobile entertainment experience. These include Musicholic for music lovers; Studio on Demand mobile TV; and more,” the carrier announced.

“To celebrate their strategic partnership, HTC and CSL will launch exclusive benefits for HTC customers who sign up for a network service plan with one2free brand. These exclusive benefits will be launched with the HTC Desire S,” the duo concluded.
