Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has announced the availability of two new handsets on the market in Singapore, namely the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa, the company's two Facebook phones.

Both handsets are set to arrive on shelves in Singapore in June, Google's Android operating system on board and with features that make them worthy of being called Facebook phones.

The two mobile phones were unveiled in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. They come to shelves with specific Facebook features integrated in the HTC Sense experience.

When made available for purchase in June, the HTC ChaCha will sport a price tag of $438. It arrives in Modern White, Phantom Black and Amethyst Purple colors, and will land at SingTel and SingTel authorized retailers.

The HTC Salsa features a price tag of $568, and will be put for sale via mobile operators and authorized retailers dressed up in Blue.

The new HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa offers a new unique way to experience Facebook on a mobile device to communicate with your circle of friends on a brand new level,” said Lennard Hoornik, president, South Asia Pacific, HTC Corporation.

“With more than 500 million active users worldwide, Facebook has become synonymous with the social web and we wanted to create the ultimate socially connected phones with mass market appeal.”

The most interesting feature of the two handsets is their FaceBook button which is context-aware, and which enables users easily share content with their friends over the said social networking site.

Touching the button would update user's status, upload a photo, share a link, or let others know what music the user is listening to.

The HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa run under Google's Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 operating system and also offer all of the specific features that handsets powered by this OS feature.

“We have worked closely with HTC for several years on bringing Facebook to their devices and HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa are the next stage,” said Henri Moissinac, head of Mobile Business for Facebook.

“HTC has brought Facebook to the new device in an innovative way enabling people to connect and share easily whenever they want, wherever they are.”
