More specs about the upcoming HTC Knight, also known as HTC Shift 4G, are surfacing and point to the fact that this is not a flagship device after all. Rumored to be released by Sprint carrier, HTC Knight was spotted in the wild at the end of October.

The first information about the device didn't mention anything about 4G network compatibility or what version of Android the device will run.

Apparently HTC Knight comes with a WVGA 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480x800 pixels resolution. The device may be powered by a 1GHz CPU, but rumors also state that HTC might turn it into a dual core processor at launch.

The newly revealed specs mention 4G connectivity and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which confirms partly the device's ability from Sprint, which is one of the US major carrier's that offer 4G services.

Recent rumors say that HTC Knight and HTC Shift 4G are one and the same device, but with different names, which probably means it will not be a Sprint exclusive.

In terms of tech specs, HTC Knight is Sprint's HTC Desire Z, but a little bit more powerful thanks to the dual core processor.

For those out of the loop, HTC Desire Z is a slide-out smartphone running Android 2.2 (Froyo) out-of-the-box. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7230 800 MHz processor and features full QWERTY keyboard.

It comes with the same sized 3.7-inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480x800 pixels resolution, as the HTC Knight.

Other key features of the Desire Z include: HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, 1.5 GB internal memory, 512 MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), GPS with A-GPS support, HTC Sense UI, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support and 3.5 mm audio jack.

Rumors speculate that HTC Knight is preparing for an early launch next year, possibly at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) event, which starts January 6th.
