HTC has launched a very powerful device in Asia

We've been hearing that HTC is looking to introduce a new Butterfly smartphone on the Asian market, and today is the day when the Taiwanese device manufacturer is finally making the J Butterfly handset official. Only in Japan, for the time being.

The smartphone combines the best features of the company’s One M9 and One M9+ to deliver a pretty glorious device.

On the other hand, the terminal does not come with a metal unibody, but with a plastic one. Still, it does bring to the table some functionalities the other HTC phones don’t boast. For starters, it’s both waterproof and dustproof.

HTC J Butterfly is now real

The HTC J Butterfly borrows the octa-core Snapdragon 810 chip and 3GB of RAM from the One M9, while the 5.2-inch QHD display with 565ppi and the 20MP main duo camera is taken from the One M9+.

As the previous leak has suggested, there is an advanced 13MP front-facing camera donning the front of the handset, just like in the case of the HTC Desire Eye.

When the phone’s specs leaked, we were also told that the selfie camera would be capable of 4K video recording, but the current announcement doesn't say anything about that. We’re only told the main snapper can shoot video in 4K.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S6, the HTC J Butterfly also comes equipped with a microSD card slot, 32GB of internal storage, a 2,700 mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box (with the company’s Sense 7 UI on top).

Don't expect it to sell internationally

HTC says users will need to keep the phone charging for up to 110 minutes for the battery to be completely restored. As is usually the case with HTC products, you’ll find dual front speakers on board, which can probably deliver high audio quality.

Furthermore, the device has LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac and NFC. Basically, everything you could ask for.

The HTC J Butterfly has been listed with Japanese carrier KDDI, but the device will probably be offered through some other means as well, at a later date. You should keep an eye out for it starting early June, but don’t hold your breath for seeing it arrive on the international market.
