One&Company Inc., One & Co for short, is a very well-known Californian design company that, for many years, has been creating all sorts of mobile shapes for plenty of phone manufactures. Also, the award-winning company is internationally recognized, since it also boasts experience in the footwear business, skiing, snowboarding and many other lines of work.

HTC first collaborated with One & Co in 2006 when they came up with the much praised design for the HTC Diamond. After seeing the success that this device had, mostly because of the relatively now-legendary materials and the unprecedented shape, HTC did not stop collaborating with the Californian company, and has now decided to buy it for a yet undisclosed amount of money. This decision comes to consolidate HTC's position as a design leader in the world of phone manufacturers, while also being probably the most practical idea we've seen in a while.

Chief Innovation Officer for HTC, Horace Luke, stated the following regarding the latest “acquisition”: “Design is key, it is why you love or hate something. [...] Integrating iconic design into HTC products is an inspiring and dynamic challenge that requires a unique combination of consumer insight, creativity, innovation and an appetite to take risks; attributes that embody One & Co.”

One & Co will, however, still maintains its name and most of its previous plans, the idea now, after entering this partnership, being probably to create another immensely successful and appreciated device from the start, and thus capitalize the best it can on this collaboration. Should the success of the upcoming designs be comparable to those of the HTC HD or Diamond, not only fans, but also the two companies involved will be among the first to hail the collaboration as a very inspired one.

“One & Co is excited to bring our lifestyle, user focused approach to HTC and we look forward to creating iconic, compelling products together. [...] Knowing about HTC’s cutting edge technology and proven track record of innovation, we are excited to collaborate with HTC as a global lifestyle brand.” said Scott Croyle, partner at One & Co, regarding the merge.
