14 DAY TRIAL // Taiwanese company HTC may have major financial issues, but that doesn't prevent the company from continuing to run marketing campaigns meant to raise the hype around its current flagship smartphone, the One M9.
Although the One M9's sales are nowhere near those of the One M8, HTC is trying to limit the damage, but launching different versions of its flagship smartphone, some packed with even better specs.
On top of that, HTC introduced the limited edition HTC One M9 in 24ct. gold earlier last week, which was meant to celebrate the end of the UEFA Champions League Season.
This very expensive smartphone will not be on sale though, as the Taiwanese company has decided to give it away to winners of the HTCGoldenTicket contest that it runs on Twitter.
The phone itself is the ticket to the final
In fact, the winner of the contest has already received two tickets to the UEFA Champions League final, one of them being the phone itself, where they were able to see FC Barcelona beat Juventus Torino to be crowned Europe's best football team this year.
Details on the phone's specs and value are pretty scarce (as in non-existent), so we must assume it comes with the same software and hardware specifications as the standard HTC One M9 model.
However, we do know the smartphone is covered in 24ct. gold and engraved with the name of the teams that fought for the UEFA Champions League title in the final, as well as the seat from where the winner of the HTC One M9 limited edition will watch the match.
So, HTC won't win anything from releasing this limited edition One M9 in 24ct. gold except fame perhaps and some gratitude from the winner of the device.
