Shortly after HTC released the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the international version of EVO 3D, the Taiwanese company kicked off the rollout of the upgrade for another Android smartphone, the old Incredible S.

However, this isn’t too much of a surprise as HTC already confirmed two months ago that the Incredible S owners would receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update around June-July.

True to its promise, the handset maker has been reportedly started to push the update for the unlocked GSM version of the Incredible S, which is delivered OTA (over the air), in stages.

According to TheUnwiredNet, this is a worldwide rollout of the update, so everyone should expect to get the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade at some point this month.

The update has around 250MB in size and bumps the Android operating system to version 4.0.4 and the HTC Sense UI to 3.6. Lots of performance improvements have been added as well, along with some new apps and services.

HTC Incredible S is one of the 17 devices that have been confirmed back in May for an Android 4.0 ICS upgrade. Unfortunately, those who own an HTC smartphone with less than 512MB of RAM won’t be getting this update due to hardware requirements.

Aside from EVO 3D and Incredible S, other HTC smartphones are expected to receive the same update in July-August, including Desire HD, Thunderbolt and Desire S.

Android enthusiasts who own the HTC Incredible S can now check for the update manually by going to Settings / About phone / Software update.

It is also worth mentioning that the Taiwanese company has yet to determine the exact release date of the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for DROID Incredible 2. HTC claims more details will be disclosed by the end of August.
