Last week, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation officially unveiled to the world its latest Android-based flagship handset in the form of HTC One (M8), which has already landed on shelves around the world.

The phone was announced in three versions, including a Google Play Edition and a Developer Edition, and it seems that HTC has decided to increase the price tag of the latter.

Starting today, the handset is available for purchase at $699.99 (€511), though it was initially put up for grabs at only $649.99 (€475).

Those of you interested in the purchase of the new HTC One (M8) Developer Edition should head over to this page on HTC’s website for that. The handset will ship to orders in one or two weeks.

Only the Developer Edition device has seen the increase in price, it seems, as the Unlocked flavor will remain available at the initial cost, as PhoneArena notes.

However, the Developer variant comes with a series of unique features packed inside, including an unlocked bootloader, which allows users to tweak it much easier when compared to other models.

The HTC One (M8) Developer Edition was made available for purchase in the United States last week, alongside the Unlocked Edition, and can be purchased on the networks of wireless carriers AT&T, Sprint and Verizon (which has it available in stores too, in addition to selling it online).

The HTC One (M8) was announced as an upgrade for last year’s HTC One and arrives on shelves with a nice range of enhancements over that smartphone.

The new mobile phone packs an aluminum body, the same as the predecessor but has a larger, 5-inch touchscreen display, capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

Moreover, HTC One M8 was unveiled with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, as well as with 2GB of RAM. The handset packs 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, the new HTC One (M8) sports dual UltraPixel cameras, complemented by a 5MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The mobile phone also features the usual set of connectivity capabilities inside, such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as built-in GPS receiver, and the entire set of commonly used sensors. It also comes with dual speakers on the front, with HTC BoomSound technology.

Moreover, HTC One (M8) runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, with HTC’s Sense 6.0 user interface loaded on top, providing users with a variety of exclusive features and applications, such as HTC Sense TV Sports, HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe, and more.
