Google should announce the tablet in a week

As we slowly advance towards the October 16, more and more information related to the mythical HTC Nexus 9 tablet is making its way online.

We have been avidly waiting on Google to launch the next tablet in the Nexus lineup for months on end. Hopefully, the tablet won’t have the faith of the second-gen Nexus 10 which got heavily rumored at one point, but failed to materialize to this day.

But if all indications are correct, this is unlikely to be the case. For example, the Nexus 9 has been spotted making a stop at the FCC and a leaked picture showcasing its plastic, Nexus 5 reminiscent back has already leaked online.

Nexus 9 marks a new beginning for HTC, tablet-wise

As you can see, it’s pretty obvious that the Nexus 9 will make a debut soon, and a few days before, we will be able to finally witness that. President of HTC North Asia, Jack Tong stepped forth and talked a little bit about what the new tablet really means for the company.

HTC and Google have worked side by side before, long before the Nexus 9 ever came into the picture. Back in 2010 the two tech giants released the first Nexus smartphone, which was coincidentally also the first Android-powered handset ever.

But tablets are something HTC has stayed clear of for the last three years, and according to reports in the media Google has some convincing to do in order to get HTC onboard with the Nexus 9 project.

As Focus Taiwan reports, HTC’s Jack Tong present at the company’s New York event says the new Nexus tablet marks the company’s commitment to return to the tablet market.

Nexus 9 launching in Taiwan by the end of 2014

Furthermore, he added that the company would be ready to launch the tablet in Taiwan by the end of 2014, which makes sense given that the 8.9-incher just got approved by the NCC (Asia’s FCC) a few days ago.

The Nexus 9 is expected to be quite a tablet. For starters, it should arrive with 2K display and take advantage of NVIDIA’s latest Tegra K1 64-bit processor code-named Denver.

The tablet will probably be announced with Android L and we know the new OS is expected to hit the streets November 1. This might also be the date when the Nexus 9 goes on sale, but we cannot confirm the information.

Hopefully in a week and a day, Google will shed light and all our questions, while revealing the true face of the HTC Nexus 9.
