The smartphone may be announced at CES 2015, next month

HTC’s One family of smartphones is one of the best looking on the market, but that doesn’t mean that it’s also one of the most popular. The fact that these are only high-end smartphones doesn’t help either, as most consumers prefer cheap handsets over top-notch ones.

Each of HTC’s new flagship smartphone since it debuted the One series brought new features and major improvements over the previous model, in terms of both hardware and look.

However, the next high-end smartphone to be released by HTC in 2015 won’t be branded with the One series. Apparently, the Taiwanese company plans to rename its flagship lineup and probably make some other changes as well.

According to leaker @upleaks, the next top-tier HTC smartphone to be launched by the Taiwanese company next year is now codenamed Hima.

The HTC Hima may be just the smartphone’s internal name, but once development finishes, it might go on sale under a different name. One thing is sure though, the next flagship handset coming from the Taiwanese company will not be called HTC One M9.

At least that’s what sources close to the matter have claimed for the last couple of weeks. Moving on to specs, the HTC Hima is supposed to sport a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

The bad news is that the phone’s screen will only support full HD (1080p) resolution, not Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) as expected.

Moreover, HTC seems to be determined to drop the UltraPixel camera in favor of a more traditional one. This is why the Hima will come with a 20.7-megapixel camera in the back, which should feature autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

The Hima may be announced as early as January, during CES 2015 trade fair

On the inside, HTC Hima is said to be equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. There’s no mention of microSD card slot, so we can only wait for HTC to confirm this information.

Furthermore, the smartphone will be powered by a 2840 mAh battery and it will feature VoLTE and LTE Cat.6 support. No other details on the Hima’s specs sheet have been leaked, but what surfaced recently should be enough to give Android fans an idea on what the flagship smartphone will look like on the inside.

The Hima will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of the box, as well as HTC Sense 7.0 UI on top.

Last but not least, @upleaks claims the HTC Hima will be launched in the United States at all major carriers across the country. What do you think about these tentative specs for HTC’s next flagship smartphone?
