After launching its popular One (M8) handset, HTC is currently hard at work on its successor which the rumor mill dubbed the One (M9).

However, it soon became apparent that HTC will be applying a change in nomenclature with its upcoming flagship. So currently, the general consensus is that when it arrives in the wild, the One (M9) will be marketed under the HTC Hima branding.

Recent discussions have also revealed that HTC Hima will be joined by the Hima Ace and Hima Ultra variants, which will probably get unveiled alongside the regular model.

HTC Hima to have MediaTek variants

Now Chinese Twitter account @upleaks has leaked a few details about the duo. Apparently, the Ace and Ultra will be lower-cost variants of Hima, as they will take advantage of MediaTek processing units.

To be more specific, the Ace is expected to come coated in plastic and sport a budget-friendly price. As for the Hima Ultra, the source says that at least in “China” the handset will take advantage of the MediaTek platform.

Since the HTC Hima is supposed to arrive with a 5-inch 1080p display, it could be hypothesized that the Hima Ultra will have a larger display and a higher resolution too. Maybe a 5.5-inch with qHD res? Well, this is all wishful thinking from our part at this point, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.

The information shouldn't come as a big shock since HTC has already started using MediaTek chips with its products since earlier this year.

Devices like the Desire 310, Desire 516 and Desire 820 all take advantage of this platform. Out of the three, the Desire 820s is the most interesting, bundling a 64-bit octa-core model.

HTC Hima to get Android and Windows Phone variants

Anyway, going back to the flagship HTC Hima, here’s what we know so far about it. The smartphone should arrive with a 5-inch display with full HD resolution and a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor fitted with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

The rumor mill also says HTC Hima will drop the UltraPixel camera in favor of a more traditional one. It is said that the handset will arrive with a 20.7MP main camera bundling autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

The spec list also includes a 2840 mAh battery, VoLTE and LTE Cat.6 support. HTC Hima should ship out with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box (or who knows, even Android 5.1).

Like in the case of the One (M8), HTC is expected to launch a Windows Phone (10) version of Hima which will apparently feature the same specs as the Android model.
