HTC is working on the successor of its popular One (M8) flagship handset, which will bring about an important change in nomenclature for the company’s products.

In the rumor mill, the upcoming top-tier is known as Hima, and at some point we told you the smartphone would be offered in several variants including the Hima Ace and Hima Ultra.

Well, it appears another variation has surfaced thanks to leaked information coming to us curtsy of Portuguese website, 4GNews.

HTC Hima Ace Plus shows up

The HTC Hima Ace Plus is a phablet which, according to the source, will be launched with a host of potent specifications.

The handset will make its way online with a 5.5-inch display offering 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. It’s said to be quite a bezel-less device, boasting front-facing BoomSound speakers that will be living on the top and bottom, a design detail reminiscent of what we see on the current HTC phones.

The HTC Hima Ace Plus will also take advantage of an octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset, clocked at 2.3GHz and fitted with 3GB of RAM.

With so many rumors circling around saying the Snapdragon 810 will get delayed, could it be possible that HTC will choose to use another platform instead? Your guess is as good as ours at this point.

Anyway, the HTC Hima Ace Plus is expected to don a 20MP camera on the back plus a 4MP ultrapixel snapper.

The handset will rely on a 3000 mAh battery to keep things going and HTC will add its latest Sense 7.0 UI on the device, which based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Fingerprint scanning technology available for Hima

We should also mention, the phablet will boast a fingerprint scanner that is said to be capable of working even with the screen off.

The report mentions that HTC will probably unveil the Hima Ace Plus in March at MWC 2015, but we won’t see the phablet in retail until August or September.

The HTC Hima Ace Plus is currently just a rumor, so you shouldn't be shocked if the model turns out to be bogus.
