Could be pushed back even more

The latest Android-based mobile phone from the Taiwanese company HTC has already been announced to come to the UK via T-Mobile, and the carrier also confirmed that the name of the device would be G2 Touch. According to some of the rumors on the Web, the operator is set to release its flavor of the Android phone on July, but now we learn that the handset might be delayed to the end of the month or to August.

The device is already listed on Amazon.co.uk, and it sported a launch date of July 24 only yesterday (pushed back from the initial July 15), while today it is listed with the August 15, 2009 release day. In addition, the site also mentions the fact that “release dates are subject to change,” which means that we might hear that the phone has been further delayed.

For what it's worth, said release time frames might apply to the UK launch of the HTC Hero only, and users living in other countries across Europe might see the handset on the shelves earlier than that date, yet there are no exact details on this at the moment. Hopefully, the phone will not come later than August 15, especially since there is another site that also says it will have it in stock in the first week of August, namely Devicewire.

Until more details on the launch become available, we should note a few interesting aspects on the Hero that surfaced recently into the wild. According to IntoMobile, although the phone is expected to prove the most successful HTC Android device to date, the company's CEO Peter Chou wasn't pleasantly impressed by its design when he first saw it.

Although Chou expressed his disapproval when he first looked at the Hero, the custom-made HTC Sense UI that has been applied over the Android OS has attracted people already, and will certainly break a few more hearts. HTC Chief Innovative Officer Horace Luke has stated in an interview with T3 that Peter Chou loved the handset after holding it in his hand, and we're sure that there are also a wide range of enthusiasts who can hardly wait to do the same.
