The Hero is the latest Android mobile phone released into the wild from the Taiwanese-based company's labs. The device won't become available for purchase in the US via T-Mobile, as we were all expecting to learn before its launch, though it will come to T-Mobile UK in the end. Of course, the Hero that will come to the wireless carrier in the UK will be a custom model, and, obviously, will also have a custom name.

While previously the phone was expected to be released on the operator's airwaves as the G1 Touch, it seems that the company decided to change its name once more, and users will be able to enjoy the Hero on T-Mobile as the G2 Touch. Even so, the high-end features that the Hero was announced to pack will still be present on the T-mobile flavor, so users will have some reasons to rejoice.

The specs of the T-Mobile G2 Touch include a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, as well as the new Sense UI system from the mobile phone maker, not to mention the 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, or the built-in GPS receiver. In addition, the device comes with a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper with auto-focus, and with a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

As for the price the handset will feature on T-Mobile's network, we learn that it will come for free upon the signing of a new 18-month contract agreement with a minimum plan of £40 per month. According to the carrier, the tariff is one of the Flext schemes, providing users with £225-worth of credit per month. That doesn't sound too bad in the end, though we should mention that Orange also announced that it would launch the HTC Hero for free with a new, two-year contract.
